Kevin Danenberg

Bio

Kevin Danenberg is a multifaceted programmer and technology consultant based in New York City who builds innovative solutions for growing businesses. His strong background in database and application development is complemented by a creative capacity rooted in the arts.

In 1995, Kevin joined PC-FM, Inc., a small Long Island consulting firm. No stranger to database work, he quickly jumped into critical projects for The Guggenheim Museum, Cablevision, Beyer Blinder Belle, and a variety of other companies. In an effort to survive the economic downturn of 2002, Kevin formed Danenberg Consulting with little more than his own abilities to launch the uncapitalized startup. Since then, he has grown a respectable operation developing custom applications for EnergyWatch, Inc., developing research databases for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene deployed in over 20 area hospitals, and many other accomplishments.

In the days of 80286 processors and DOS, Kevin became familiar with database programming. Computer science courses taught him to think of data structures in the context of Pascal and C. Since then, he's mastered building real-world applications in Access, SQL Server, and MySQL. Kevin spends as much time in Visual Studio as Eclipse developing software. With web applications, his database background and artistic side become a distinct advantage, with expertise of visual interface all the way down to the nuts and bolts of data storage.

Fifteen years of consulting has yielded another essential skill: managing client relationships. Bridging the disconnect between programmers and non-programmers. Turning vague requests into optimal solutions without missing a beat. Understanding the big picture while micromanaging when necessary. These are things computer science classes don't teach you.

As the industry changes, Kevin is constantly seeking opportunities and learning relevant skills. With several exciting ventures under way, Kevin continues to develop his unique skillset and increase value for his clients.

Interests

Kevin spends his off hours playing tenor saxophone, pursuing photography, blogging, playing softball, learning new technology, and absorbing the artistic side of New York City. He performs with various jazz, rock, and soul groups as the occasion arises. Usually, there's too much work to be done to get to much of this!

Education

Kevin earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Hartford, where he majored in Jazz Studies and minored in Computer Science. He studied with world reknowned jazz saxophonist Jackie McLean. Lately, Kevin has been expanding his artistic abilities at School of Visual Arts (SVA).
