This FAQ is intended to provide general information about Kevin Danenberg Consulting.
1. Why hire a Consultant?
2. How much will I pay?
3. Do you program offshore?
4. Do you handle networking and hardware support?
5. Do you offer home computer support?
There are many advantages to hiring a Consultant rather than using your own employees:
Consultants specialize in tasks for which you may not have sufficient in-house expertise. A dedicated expert always gets the job done more efficiently and accurately. Also, consultants tend to have a mindset different than their full time counterparts. It takes a lot of ingenuity and motivation to survive as a consultant, so years of consulting experience are are great asset to bring into your business.
Consultants typically work under short term contracts, so you may hire us only if and when you need our special skills. We are used to working independently and are able to complete projects with minimum supervision. This means you can continue doing business as usual during our productive relationship.
Consider employee wages + benefits + social security + overhead (facilities, utilities, administration, etc.) over 2000 hours a year. Bringing in an expert consultant for a targeted task for 200 or 300 hours a year can make a lot of sense compared with hiring one or more new employees for the same job.
Since we do custom work, this varies from project to project. The exact scope of a project is a discovery process for both of us, so even ballpark figures evolve as we create a specification. However, we stand behind our final estimates as they are based on careful study and the foresight of years of experience.
We value your investment and always handle billing with the utmost integrity. Just as we take pride in our work, we are proud of our clients knowing their money is well spent.
For more detail on our billing, see our Rates & Policies page.
Not at all. Principal consultant Kevin Danenberg handles many projects locally in New York City. Our other programmers and project managers are generally local to NYC, but some work as far as Boston and Colorado. We are readily available to visit onsite and give you the personal attention to ensure project success. Some consulting companies basically front for an offshore shop, but we feel our model offers clients a higher level of service.
Generally, we don't touch the hardware. But we are available for purchase recommendations or to help you troubleshoot in a pinch. We don't maintain hardware contracts or act as a reseller, so this isn't something we focus on. Most of our clients have a networking service to take care of their hardware, and we interface with them as necessary. If you do not have this service, we can recommend an excellent service provider.
Sorry, we do not. We recommend dealing with your PC manufacturer's customer support or with a local service company that specializes in home support.
